The technology is fascinating and fiction has a role. However, past the initial infatuation, synthetic images have energized my taste for the real. In a sea of fakes, reality becomes even more valuable, imo. (Also, being on the street is healthier than being in front of a computer screen 😊.) Good piece, thanks!
Wonderful observation, Dina. I am also filled with "mistrust, curiosity and fear." It's exactly how I felt as a photo assistant when digital cameras started replacing traditional film photography. I also remember when many believed that 8k video would decimate the photography industry by pulling frames from video, and while that does happen on occasion, it was rooted in the same fears surrounding the topic of AI generated imagery today. In the end, I believe it will push traditional photographers to be more creative, dive deeper into their subject matter and find ways to illustrate the human condition never seen before and that is a positive in my book - Yes, I'm also a romantic. :) This was a great read. Keep'em comin'.

Very well written and thoughtful. It was a pleasure to read and quite helpful on the subject.
Thank you Jim! Glad you enjoyed this. Now that I wrote this I got sucked into the AI rabbit hole.

I believe the same and I am a cynic. :)
A good friend and mentor a long time ago said that a cynic is just a fallen romantic. I always liked that line.
Wow! This piece is so well thought out and expressed. Definitely the best I have read about AI. Thank you.
Thank you so much Bonnie.
