Rehearsal Portfolio for New York Magazine
Sweltering subway, a rainy amphitheater and one yellow cab.

I photographed dancer Joseph Gordon rehearsing on the subway in the middle of August. The initial idea was to shoot him stretching and doing dance moves in the station, but the non-ventilated underground hellhole felt like a sauna, so we had to move into a crowded subway car. An MTA ad, “Don’t be someone’s subway story,” was a perfect backdrop for this shoot, and it ended up being the final photo from the hottest two hours of my photography career (followed by the best cold shower of my life).
