Photos From Trump's Frigid Inauguration in Washington, DC
The surreal theater of MAGA celebrates their win.

On the morning of the inauguration, I realized that I forgot to pack my camera mittens, taking instead my fashionable and useless fingerless gloves. The bitter cold made my fingers go numb every ten minutes, and I had to keep stopping to warm my hands in my pockets for the entirety of the shoot. Other than that, it went great.
The photos were photographed for Die Zeit.
The inauguration was moved inside the Capitol because of the arctic blast, with the parade taking place indoors at the Capital One Arena. Thousands of people had tickets and traveled to DC for the festivities, but only a fraction of them could fit into the first-come-first-serve arena. In order to secure a place, people lined up from early morning and waited for hours.
